Artist Statement: From Noah’s ark to Jesus calming the sea, boats are mentioned 43 times in the Bible, often in stories that teach us about the nature of God. This shattered hand carved boat is symbolic of broken lives, and that no matter how destructive one’s life has been, the grace and love of God can save and restore wholeness. The repurposed 1800’s Bible, hung from an antique boat cleat represents the anchor God’s Word provides for storm tossed lives.
