Artist Statement: This simple cross was once placed atop a Processional Staff used in liturgical worship services. This cross is characterized by the trefoil, or three scalloped shapes at the end of each arm, which symbolize the Holy Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Budded Cross also represents the Christian’s journey from bud to flower or childhood to maturity.
